ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Wednesday that he will discuss and make complete efforts on his part for the resumption of US-Afghan dialogue in the meeting with US President Donald Trump, scheduled in New York.

The prime minister was addressing a ceremony at the inauguration of the Integrated Transit Trade Management System’s extension plan at Torkham border.

PM Imran said that the hurdles in the dialogue are an unfortunate instance for Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The prime minister said that in the meeting to be held in New York, he will make efforts that the talks progress and peace prevails.

He further said that the peace in Afghanistan will benefit Pakistan the most.

While denouncing the ongoing lockdown in Indian occupied Kashmir, the prime minister said that until the time the curfew is lifted in the valley, there will not be any chance of talks with India.

The prime minister said that he will present the case of Kashmir at the United Nations, where he will address the General Assembly session.

Earlier in the day it was reported that US President Trump said he is looking forward to meeting Prime Minister Imran Khan and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi later this month.

Trump's schedule suggests that his meeting with Imran Khan may take place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York later this month.
