Chishtian man, with cousin's help, slits sister's throat for marrying by choice

CHISHTIAN: A man on Tuesday stabbed his sister to death with the help of his cousin for marrying by her own choice four years after her wedding, police confirmed.

According to officers of the Bakhshan Khan police station, the suspect was identified as Shahbaz, a resident of Fateh Chak 95/F in Bahawalnagar's Chishtian.

The suspect, Shahbaz, and his paternal cousin, Iqbal, attacked his 23-year-old sister, Kiran, with a knife and sliced open her throat before fleeing the crime scene. They were absconding, as of reporting time.

A first information report (FIR) was registered at the Bakhshan Khan police station on behalf of the deceased's mother, who said her late daughter had married by her own will some four years ago but that her son was upset with her decision.

The body was transferred to a local hospital for post-mortem.
