Amitabh Bachchan tests positive for coronavirus

Famed Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, it emerged on Saturday.

Big B announced that he has been shifted to a hospital, and his family's test results were awaited, while his son urged people to "stay calm and not panic".

"All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested," Amitabh said.

According to Indian media, he has been taken to Nanavati hospital in Mumbai.

Celebrities and fans wished Amitabh a speedy recovery after he announced that he had been infected with the virus.

Former pacer Shoaib Akhtar, taking to twitter, wished him a speedy recovery.

Big B last played a role in Shoojit Sircar’s comedy-drama Gulabo Sitabo with Ayushmann Khurrana.

The initial plans for releasing the film in theatres were affected due to the novel coronavirus and the movie was later premiered on Amazon Prime Video.

Amitabh is set to return with the 12th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati — a famous game show.

Big B's upcoming movies include Chehre, Brahmastra, and Jhund.
