SpaceX owner Elon Musk is set to to visit Indonesia this Sunday to launch the space agency's satellite unit Starlink, according to two cabinet ministers.

According to a Reuters report, Minister Luhut Pandjaitan, who is a close ally of President Joko Widodo, has revealed that Musk, 52, would accompany the country's leader on the holiday island of Bali to launch the service.

This would be the tech tycoon's first in-person visit to Indonesia.

However, he has spoken before via video link at a conference held in Indonesia.

Luhut had revealed that Musk is also scheduled to speak at the World Water Forum in Bali.

The Starlink launch will be held at a clinic in Bali's capital Denpasar, where Musk was scheduled to sign an agreement on connectivity for the health sector, Communications Minister Budi Arie Setiadi said.

Starlink secured a permit to commercially offer its internet services in Indonesia earlier this month for retail consumers, Budi revealed last week.

Starlink will cooperate with local network access providers and Indonesia expects the firm to provide internet services to its remote areas.
