Freezing mobile service subjected to president’s approval: SHC

KARACHI: While hearing the petition against blocking mobile phone services, the Sindh High Court (SHC) said that the government cannot freeze the services without the approval of the president, Geo News reported Thursday.

During proceedings, the petitioner pleaded the court that access to information is the fundamental human right, therefore, the government should be restricted to block mobile phone services.

On this, the court issued the order that the government cannot automatically block the service and if necessary, then it can seek president’s permission to freeze the service.
