KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan has started door-to-door verification of voters in Karachi with the Pakistan army providing security to its staff, Geo News reported Thursday.
According to the ECP schedule, the process will be completed in March and 15,000 ECP workers would take part in the drive.
The voter verification would be carried out between January 15 and Feb 1. Following the voter verification, the ECP would compile its record within a week or so and would verify the record with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) before completing the task.
As many as 6.8 million voters would be verified in Karachi during the exercise. In the first phase, the ECP would verify house count in the city. All the equipment and necessary forms have been shifted to the offices of the Assistant Registration Officers.
