‘Judiciary never tried to assume role of other institutions’
ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Friday said that the judiciary has never tried to assume the role of the executive or legislature, but has always acted within its constitutional domain.

He was addressing the inaugural session of the Intentional Judicial Conference 2013.

The CJ said that the judiciary has the constitutional authority to strike down any act by the parliament or a state functionary that violates the constitutional limits.
