Over two lacs IDPs voters’ lists given to ECP
PESHAWAR: National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has provided to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) voters lists of over two lacs internally displaced persons (IDPs) from war-torn tribal areas, whose verification is in progress, Geo News reported.

Sources said that polling stations would be set up near food centers for IDPs. Over one lac and fifty thousand displaced families from the turbulent tribal areas are living in IDP camps, rented houses or with their relations, sources said.

Sources further said that FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) had provided the details of IDPs taking rations from different centers of World Food Program, which the ECP had passed on to NADRA for scrutiny, while NADRA has provided to ECP the lists of two lacs and sixty eight thousands voters’ lists of Khyber, Kurram and Orakzai Agencies. Later, ECP has sent these lists to the field staff of the concerned agencies for verification to ascertain whether these voters have returned to their residences or still IDPs.

ECP sources said that polling stations would be set up near 15 food centers of World Food Program for Kurram, Khyber, Orakzai Agencies’ IDPs living in Jalozai Camp and others in the province, while for the IDPs of South Waziristan at Tank, where the affectees could exercise their right of franchise.
