Punjab assembly’s 341 members take oath
LAHORE: Punjab assembly’s 341 members took oath on Saturday here, Geo News reported.

Among those who took oath, about 150 new faces have for the first time become members of the assembly, sources said.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has the highest number of members in the Punjab assembly, which includes 246 general seats, 7 minority and 50 female reserved seats.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) trailing behind has 20 general seats, 5 female reserved seats and 1 of minority.

Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) holds third position in the Punjab assembly, as it has 7 general seats, 2 female reserved seats. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has 6 general seats and 1 female reserved seat, while Muslim League-Zia occupies 2 general seats and 1 of female reserved seat.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Pakistan National Muslim League has 1 seat each in the Punjab assembly.

Six winning independent candidates have also become part of the Punjab House.

PML-N’s 27 female members have become part of the parliament for the first time, 16 for the second time and 7 for the third time.

PTI’s 6 female members for the first time successfully entered into the Punjab assembly. PML-Q’s 2 female member for the second time, while PPP’s 1 female member Faiza Malik became Punjab assembly member for the third time. ML-Zia’s Ghazala Shaheen turned out to become member for the first time.
