LAHORE: Senior Journalist Hamid Mir on Saturday underscored need for the media industry of Pakistan to comply with the relevant Code of Conduct.
Addressing a Seminar, Hamid Mir said that media should desist from using offensive language against anyone and it should also not indulge in acting as a mouthpiece of any political party.
He disclosed that due to security threats 31 journalists had to migrate from the Quetta city while 61 others had to flee from the restive parts of the tribal region.
“It appears as if freedom of press is only enjoyed in Lahore and Islamabad,” Hamid Mir said, adding ‘we cannot support the political dictatorship in the name of democracy’.
He linked Pakistan’s survival with the sustainable democracy in the country.
