Religious party activist nabbed for ‘forcible’ collection of Fitra in Karachi
KARACHI: An activist of a religious party was arrested by the Crime Branch of Sindh Police for forcibly collecting Zakat and Fitra in the city’s Pirabad locality in the wee hours of Monday.

According to SSP Crime Branch ShahJehan Khan, the man identified as Anjum Shehzad was forcibly collecting Zakat and Fitra when arrested by the police in Qasba Mor area of Pirabad. The action was taken upon information received by the Crime Branch, he added.

SSP Khan further said that a hand grenade and other weapons were also recovered from Shehzad’s possession. A case has been lodged against him under anti-terrorism acts, he added.

In a separate action, two suspects were arrested for mugging people near Quaidabad Chowk area.

DSP Malir City Qamar Ahmed said stolen goods including weapons were also recovered from their possession. SHO Shah Latif sustained injuries during the action, he added.

Meanwhile, a body was recovered near Janjal Goth on Super Highway.

According to rescue sources, the man has been identified as Abdul Razaq, a resident of Metroville, who they claimed was murdered by gunshots.
