Quetta Gladiators owner Nadeem Omar dedicated the win to the armed forces of Pakistan

KARACHI: Nadeem Omar, the owner of Quetta Gladiators, has said his team will celebrate the victory with the people of Quetta.

Talking to Geo after Gladiators’ win in the PSL 4 final against Zalmi, Omar said that he wants to dedicate the win to the armed forces of Pakistan.

“We will take the trophy to Quetta, I have spoken with CM Balochistan Jam Kamal as well. There will be a celebration in Quetta as well. We may not be able to take our foreign players as they’re leaving in the morning but rest of the players will surely go there to celebrate with the people to whom this trophy and the team belong,” Omar said.

He said that he was overwhelmed by the support he received from all over Pakistan, especially from the people of Balochistan, and hoped that Quetta Gladiators’ success in PSL will be a new beginning for sports in the province.

“Thank you Pakistan for the overwhelming support,” he said. “The response I am receiving from Balochistan is very special, I hope that this becomes a new beginning for sports in Balochistan and encourage more talent from the area. The world has known the positives of Quetta in the last three, four years. I am very happy today. The entire squad was in Pakistan which boosted the team’s confidence. Finally, Quetta has proved that they are the best.”

The owner also praised the people of Karachi for making PSL games in the city a huge success.

“Hats off to Karachi’s crowd as well, seven continuous days, houseful, people have never seen this before,” he said.

Talking about how PSL has helped Pakistan cricket, the Karachi-based businessman said that it is a collective effort and the initial steps taken by Najam Sethi shouldn’t be forgotten.

“PCB played a great role. Najam Sethi shouldn’t be forgotten, he took the step to start this. This is a collective effort. We have told the world that we are very lively people and know how to enjoy good cricket,” he said.
