KARACHI: Polling for the third and final phase of Local Bodies (LB) elections in twelve districts of Punjab and six in Karachi will be held today (Saturday).
The polling will begin at 7:30 AM and continue till 5:30 PM without any break.
In Karachi, polling will be held for one Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and six District Municipal Corporations (DMCs) in Karachi West, Karachi East, Karachi South, Karachi Central, Korangi and Malir.
Election will be held for 247 Union Councils and 988 wards besides district councils in the rural areas.
Over 33 per cent seats for women and five per cent each for peasant, youth and minorities have been allotted in KMC and six in DMCs.
Twelve districts of Punjab include: Layyah, Rajanpur, D.G. Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rawalpindi, Jhang, Khushab, Multan, Sialkot, Narowal, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur.
Election stuff is also being transported to respective polling stations in Karachi and 12 districts of Punjab.
Reports of polling material being shifted on rickshaws and motorcycles were received from Multan and Bahawalpur.
In Rahim Yar Khan, two ambulances of a private hospital were used to transport the polling material.
