BIRMINGHAM: An investigation has been launched after the body of an Asian man reported missing on Monday was found in the boot of his parked car in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Tanveer Iqbal, 33, was reported missing on Monday when he wasn’t seen or heard from since he closed his shop on Shireland Road, Smethwick on Sunday evening.

West Midlands Police discovered his body from the boot of his car parked on Portland Road a little before 2PM on Monday.

According to sources, Police are treating Iqbal’s death as suspicious and a post-mortem examination will be carried out while enquiries are being conducted in the area.

Family and friends gathered at a mosque on Corbett Road to offer prayers for the departed.

People have also started placingbouquets of flowers outside Mr. Iqbal’s shop on Shireland Road.

Detective Inspector Paul Joyce told journalists, that teams are working round the clock to try and piece together events leading up to Tanveer Iqbal’s death. He added, “If anyone has any information which they think may assist me with this investigation, I would urge them to get in touch as soon as they can.”
