KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday announced that it will stage a four-day hunger strike to register protest against the ban on broadcasting of speeches and pictures of the party chief, Altaf Hussain.
MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar told the media that the token hunger strike will be staged outside the Karachi Press Club from February 19 to 22.
He said the MQM leaders, workers and parliamentarians will take part in the strike from 11am till 11 pm for four days. “Later, we will also stage sit-ins,” he added.
Farooq Sattar said the MQM Chief has assured to take precautions in future so that he does not have to face any unnecessary allegations of being anti-country.
He demanded that the ban on broadcasting of Altaf Hussain’s speeches and images be lifted under Article 19 of the Constitution.
