LAHORE: Pakistan and Indian authorities have extended the visas of the passengers traveling through the Lahore-Delhi Dosti Bus Service and Samjhota Express on both sides of the border following cast violence in the northern Indian state of Haryana.
According to the Indian High Commission, the visas of those passengers traveling to India, and whose travel documents are going to expire shortly, have been extended until the Dosti Bus and Samjohota Express services are restored.
Meanwhile, according to sources at Pakistan’s interior ministry, visas of passengers stranded in India have also been extended.
The Lahore-Delhi Dosti Bus Service and Samjhota Express were suspended in the wake of caste violence in Haryana that has so far killed at least 10 people and injured over 150 others during the past week.
Curfew has been imposed in the Indian state of Haryana due to the arson and agitation by the protesters, leading to suspension of roads and railway service.
In a bid to defuse the tension and prevent anymore damages to roads and public and private properties, the Indian government has also blocked the national highway and internet services besides imposing a ban on mobile phone service and gathering of more than four people at one place.
