ISLAMABAD: The first-ever mayor and deputy mayors of Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation took oath of their office at the Convention Centre here on Friday.

District and Sessions Judge Irum Niazi administered the oath in the English language. Sheikh Ansar Aziz of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) along with Zeeshan Ali, Muhammad Azam and Chaudhry Raffat Javed sworn in as mayor and deputy mayors, respectively.

Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Barrister Zafar Ullah Asif Kirmani and other politicians and officials attended the oath taking ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, District Election Commissioner Aleem Shahab lauded the role of all the political parties in local government elections.
