LAHORE: Pointing out prevailing flaws in the accountability procedure of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid on Sunday said the ruling PML-N is not scared of accountability as it has been facing it for the past 20 years.

Speaking to media representatives here, he said former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf had created the Bureau to avenge Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The PML-N stalwart said the politicians who were scared of accountability had quit the PML-N and joined ‘Musharraf league’.

“Musharraf League was created to avert accountability,” he added.

Criticizing procedural flaws of NAB, the minister said nobody should be publically humiliated until allegations against him are proven. “It’s our duty to correct institutions,” he added.

Commenting over recent startling revelations by former Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal and Sarfaraz Merchant against MQM and its chief Altaf Hussain, Pervaiz Rashid said Kamal, if he has, should take evidences to the investigation committee formed by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

Rashid said the PML-N had ousted the MQM from their coalition government in 1997-98, adding that Musharraf should be investigated for ‘bringing them back and empowering them’.
