KARACHI: Several areas of the city plunged into darkness as light showers caused a high tension wire to trip.

The shut down hit the city at 7:05 am. The KE tweeted from its account that restoration work is in progress, and maintenance teams have been dispatched to the fault site.

Earlier, the KE had tweeted from its account that residents in some areas of North Nazimabad, North Karachi, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, FB Area, Garden, Korangi and Defence should expect a shut down between 9am to 6pm as their maintenance work is underway.

Earlier this year in January 70 percent Karachi plunged into darkness after a 500KV transmission line supplying electricity to the metropolis tripped near Jamshoro,
