At least five workers were killed and six others injured when a gas explosion occurred in a coal mine on Saturday.

HANGU: At least five miners were killed and two others were injured when a gas explosion occurred in coal mine on Saturday.

According to police, there were 11 workers present in the mine when the explosion occurred. Three workers were killed instantly while two were injured seriously and later succumbed to their injuries. Six others suffered minor injuries.

Deadly explosions inside coal mines are common in Pakistan. Safety for workers is bare minimum and several deaths are reported every year.
