DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday cleared bowling action of Sunil Narine paving the way for the West Indies off-spinner to resume his career after a suspension for a suspect bowling action ruled him out of his team’s World Twenty20 titlewinning campaign.
The decision comes a day before the inauguration of ninth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL).In the last three editions of IPL, Narine picked 67 wickets.
The 27-year-old Trinidadian was suspended in November last year after being cited during a oneday match in Sri Lanka. He had also been reported for a similar problem at the 2014 Champions League T20 tournament.
Sunil Narine can now resume bowling in international cricket and domestic cricket events worldwide, the ICC tweeted.
Narine has played six Tests in his stop-start career taking 21 wickets. He also has 77 wickets in 55 ODIs and 40 victims in Twenty20.
Topranked bowler Narine had to drop out of the original 15man West Indies squad for the World Twenty20 in India which ended on Sunday with his team securing a second title with a fourwicket win over England.
