KARACHI: An under custody worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement confessed to setting the Ali Enterprise on fire in 2012, on the orders of a senior MQM leader.

Zubair alias Charcha confessed his involvement in the Baldia Factory Fire. He said that he had set the factory on fire along with Rehman alias Bhola. He said they had asked for Rs10 million as extortion money from the owners.

He said that he had followed orders of MQM tanzeemi committee in-charge Hammad Siddiqui.

The fire killed over 250 workers.

Another under custody worker of the MQM, Ali Abbas confessed to seven murders including that of MQM leader Amir Khan’s nephew.
