KARACHI: Over 27 kilograms of heroin was recovered on Wednesday from a Pakistan International Airline (PIA) aircraft parked at the Isphahani Hangar at the Jinnah International Airport.

At least nine packets of the drug were recovered from hidden compartments in the toilets of the aircraft during a raid by officials of the customs department, sources said.

The aircraft PK305 had reached Karachi from Lahore last night. It was due to fly abroad today.

The customs officials sealed the aircraft.

A PIA spokesperson said that the incident was regretful. “We are interrogating the staff on-duty during the night,” he said.

He added that PIA was cooperating with the custom department
