PPP victorious in PS-14 Jacobabad by-elections: reports

JACOBABAD:Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Saturday achieved victory over the rival parties in the by-elections on Jacobabad's PS-14 provincial assembly constituency, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results.

According to the results, PPP candidate Mir Aurangzeb is leading with 24,084 votes followed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PMLN) Mohammad Aslam Abro and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Raja Khan with 13, 498 and 8960 votes respectively.

Amid reports of PPP victory, the workers of the party started the celebrations.

The seat was left vacant after PPP candidate Sardar Mohammad Muqeem Khan Khoso passed away.

By-elections were held at 163 polling stations of which 63 were considered sensitive, while 100 were considered extremely sensitive.

Rangers were deployed inside and outside polling stations.
