LAHORE: The Supreme Court on Thursday adjourning hearing of a suo motu notice regarding abduction of children in Punjab for two weeks sought a detailed report from committee headed by the advocate general Punjab.
The bench headed by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the matter at Supreme Court Lahore Registry.
During the proceedings the committee headed by advocate general Punjab presented its report wherein it was stated that no gang involved in sale of children organs had emerged so far.
The report stated that 170 children had been recovered whereas 310 children were still missing.
Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical College Prof Dr Faisal Masood also appeared before the bench and apprised that the organs of children under five year age could not be used for transplantation.
However, the organs of children above five year could be used but the government had imposed ban on it he added.
He said that it was mandatory to take permission from government for transplant or change of organs of five to 15 years old children.
At this, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar observed that rumours were being spread on social media in this regard and the masses should not pay attention to it.
“Anti-state elements were spreading such news”, he said and asked media to play its role and avoid sensation.
He paid tribute to Geo News’s reporting in this regard.
Justice Mian Saqib Nasir said that the people spreading such rumours cannot be patriotic Pakistanis.
He further said that those spreading the rumours should be identified.
The bench termed the committee’s report short and sought a detailed report on the next hearing.
