LONDON: The Notting Hill Carnival is one of Europe’s largest street parties, with hundreds of thousands of revelers attending. However this year's carnival was marred by over 450 arrests.
According to the Metropolitan Police a total of 454 arrests were made during the two-day carnival. Majority of the arrests were made for drug offences while possession of a weapon or blade came in at second place.
Four people were stabbed during the carnival including a 15-year-old boy who was on Sunday evening. While he was taken to hospital in critical condition the Metropolitan Police confirmed his injuries are not life threatening.
The three other incidents of stabbing took place at Protobello Road, Kensal Green and Ladbroke Grove. None of the victims are said to have life threatening injuries, according to police.
According to information released by the Metropolitan Police, 156 arrests were made on Sunday while 298 people were arrested on Monday.
