KARACHI: A high-profile suspect, injured in an alleged encounter with police in Karachi on Friday, succumbed to his wounds at a hospital, officials said.
Police today conducted a raid in Mauripur’s Musharraf Colony. The suspect Fazlur Rehman alias Mufti opened fire at the cops as soon as he spotted them, police said.
He was wounded in retaliation by the policemen and later succumbed to his wounds.
Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in-charge Mazhar Mishwani said the deceased was affiliated with outlawed group Jundullah and wanted in a number of high-profile cases.
Police also recovered five grenades, a handgun and a motorcycle from the possession of the suspect.
Officials said that Rehman was involved in planting block bombs outside imam bargahs in Qasba Colony and Orangi Town. He also waged a number of attacks on police and security agencies.
