Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) convener Nadeem Nusrat said MQM has nothing to do with the controversial banner calling for 'the death of the party’s founder's traitors' that was seen hanging on a fence outside the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday.
Breaking silence from London, the MQM convener took to Twitter to deny any link of the party with the banner, saying that MQM had no knowledge of the persons behind the banner.
Police have registered a case against ‘unknown men’ over the banner. Law enforcers had earlier detained three suspects in connection with the banner, hours after it was seen. They were however released late on Monday night.
The controversial banner read "Jo Quaid-e-Tehreek ka ghaddar hay, wo mout ka haqdar hay (traitors of the movement's founder deserve death)". The banner was apparently signed by 'lovers' of the MQM founder.
It was however removed within hours after news flashed on local television channels.
Shortly afterwards, banners were also seen in the nearby Saddar commercial area carrying slogans against Farooq Sattar and the MQM Pakistan Rabita Committee. It was unclear as to who was behind the banners.
