LAHORE: Authorities on Thursday placed the Lahore railway station on lock-down in view of looming terrorism threats. Heavy police contingents were deployed and searched for suspicious person or object, according to railways sources.
Heavy police contingents reached the railway station late on Thursday night and closed all the entry and exit points and searched the vicinity thoroughly.
The lights of the railway terminal were switched off, while the parking lot was also cleared. Officials also barred the arrival of all trains until the morning, after which the trains en route to Lahore were signaled to slow down.
Sources said that this was the first time that the railway station was completely shut down.
Earlier, police conducted a flag march inside Punjab University, while seven suspects were also rounded up from different areas of Lahore.
Geo News, however, learnt that the flag march and raids were part of routine exercise.
