CM Murad denies rigging claims in Malir elections

No one was allowed to stamp votes, CM Murad said

KARACHI: Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Friday that MQM's reservations were not right and that this time, no one had been allowed to 'stamp' votes in the Malir elections.

Murad issued the following statements while speaking to media personnel after the T20 match which was played between the Chief Minister's team and the provincial sports minister's team. Murad Ali Shah's team defeated the opposing team by 3 wickets.

The match, which was held to pay tribute to renowned philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi and the soldiers of Pakistan army who laid down their lives for the country, was played between Edhi Green (led by Murad Ali Shah) and Edhi White (led by the sports minister).

Edhi White set a target of 140 runs, which was successfully chased by Edhi Green in the last over of the match, at the loss of 7 wickets. Jam Khan Shoro, minister for local bodies, the minister for local government, took Murad Ali Shah's wicket, who was able to score 24 runs in the match.

Former Test cricket captain Sadiq Muhammad presented the trophy to the winning team. Murad Ali Shah said that the match had been played to pay tribute to Abdul Sattar Edhi and his contributions for the nation.

In an apparent taunt to MQM, Murad Ali Shah said that this time, no one was allowed to 'stamp' votes in the recently held Malir elections. Otherwise, MQM used tosecure 90,000 votes, he said.

Attendees thoroughly enjoyed the match and were of the view that to sustain peace in the metropolis, such type of activities should be held on a frequent basis.
