Panama pressure will keep mounting on PM Sharif: Aitzaz

PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan was speaking to media in Islamabad and said that for Nawaz, the matter of Panama Leaks has not ended.

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in Senate on Thursday said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif isabout to fall on hard times due to the the Panama leaks matter, adding that the issuewon't die down easily.

PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan was speaking to media in Islamabad and said that for Nawaz, the matter of Panama Leaks has not ended.

Ahsan said that the PM’s biggest mistake was making his son talk on TV.“Nawaz’s statement pointed to East, while his son’s at West,” said Aitzaz Ahsan.

Ahsan said that the statement of NAB and FBR heads at Public Accounts Committee session was embarrassing, as institutions have to start investigations from allegations not evidences.

“PM can save himself if he accepts the Opposition bill in the parliament,” said Aitzaz, adding that Nawaz is on the wrong track.

The PPP leader also expressed his doubts over the prime minister’s open heart surgery in London at the end of May. He said that even senior doctors from London are asking the question that how can someone after such a major surgery mount stairs shortly afterwards.

On Sept 1, PPP had submitted a bill of Panama Papers Inquiry Act 2016 in the Senate Secretariat.

Many Pakistanis have also been named in what has become known as the Panama Papers, The documents identify many Pakistani business tycoons and politicians including late two-time Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto as well certain members of the ruling Sharif family (excluding PM Nawaz Sharif and his brother CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif) to have use tax havens to hide their wealth.
