NEW DELHI: Pakistan’s High Commissioner Abdul Basit on Tuesday dismissed Indian allegations regarding the Uri attack.
According to Indian media reports, Basit was summoned by Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar andpresented 'evidence' pertaining to the attack.
Abdul Basit said Indian should restrain from hurling allegations without any proof.
Mr Basit reinforced that Pakistan had no involvement in the Uri attack. He also questioned India’s seriousness in the matter, asking why New Delhi was shying away from an international probe.
In a series of tweets following the meeting, Ministry of External Affairs spokespersonVikas Swarupalleged local villagers had caught two men who facilitated the Uri attack. Swarup claimed these men were from Muzaffarabad.
Pakistan Army monitoring developments
Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa said during a press briefing on Tuesday that Pakistan’s military was monitoring developments on the eastern border, adding that they were prepared for any incident.
“Pakistan has always acted responsibly,” Gen Bajwa said.
He added that charges leveled by India over the Uri attack were upsetting and Pakistan had never accused anyone without concrete evidence.
