Rangers recover 190 bulletproof vests from Karachi’s Azizabad

KARACHI: Sindh Rangers on Thursday recovered 190 bulletproof vests from a house in Karachi’s Azizabad area, a spokesman for the paramilitary force said.

The spokesman said that the jackets were concealed in the hidden parts of the house, adding that they in use of Muttahida Quami Movement’s (MQM) military wing.

He further said that the vests were used as shields in terrorist activities.

In October, police recovered a huge cache of weapons hidden inside a water tank in a house in Azizabad area.

The weapons were taken to the office of DIG West in five trucks. Police said the weapons were seized after receiving information from a criminal in custody.

Police added that the weapons were intended to be used for a terrorist attack in the month of Muharram.

The weapons recovered included Nato weapons, bullet-proof jackets, anti-tank mines, anti-aircraft guns, bazookas, grenades, LMGs, SMGs, rifles and AK-47 assault rifles along with a large quantity of explosives.
