ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan announced on Tuesday that his party would maintain the National Assembly boycott and not attend Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s address to the joint session this week.
The Turkish president will address the joint session on November 17.
Imran Khan added that his party would continue the boycott of parliament till the Supreme Court’s decision in the Panama Leaks case.
Earlier, PTI vice chairman had met with the Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan to discuss this issue.
"We have immense respect for the Turkish president, while party chief Imran Khan has strong ties with Recep Tayyip Erdogan," he said. "We only want people to understand our principle stance and the decision we made," Qureshi had told reporters following the meeting.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi added that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was a 'controversial figure' and his party would not attend any session until a ruling on Panama Leaks case.
