MOSCOW: A young Russian chess grandmaster-turned Parkour-enthusiast died on Saturday after falling to his death in Moscow, Russia, stated international media reports.

Yuri Eliseev, 20, was practicing the extreme sport of Parkour and in an attempt to reach a nearby balcony, fell from his 12-floor apartment building’s rooftop.

Eliseev was given the prestigious grandmaster status at the age of 17.

He became the world under-16 chess champion in 2012.

Parkour is a deadly sport which involves jumping, climbing, reaching heights and acrobatic moves.
