When men arrive home, they don’t get food which was increasing the rate of divorces, says PML-N MNA Tahira Aurengzeb

ISLAMABAD: Members of National Assembly on Tuesday claimed that the rate of divorce was on the rise in Pakistan due to gas loadshedding.

“Arguments between the couples were on the increase due to gas loadshedding. When men arrive home, they don’t get food which was increasing the rate of divorce”, said Tahira Aurengzeb, affiliated with ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Other members also shared Tahira’s concern, saying that each day they receive phone calls from their constituencies, complaining about theissue.

Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, however, said that the issue would not be resolved before at least two years.

Though he said that the ban on CNG stations would soon be lifted.
