MQM-Pakistan, London workers face off in Karachi cleaning drive

KARACHI: MQM-Pakistan and MQM-London workers came face to face during a cleanup drive in the city’s Shah Faisal Colony area on Thursday.

The workers from the two factions had a confrontation during the cleanup drive initiated by Karachi mayor Waseem Akhtar, who has vowed to prioritize Karachi’s cleanup and repairing of roads in his 100-day plan for the city.

MQM-London convener Nadeem Nusrat meanwhile instructed his faction not to interfere in or protest during any of Waseem Akhtar’s visits or works.

MQM-Pakistan leader Aamir Khan while speaking to the press blamed MQM-London leaders Wasay Jalil and Mustafa Azizababi for the disturbances, he said that those who are living in London were putting workers in Karachi in a difficult position.

In response to his allegation, MQM-London alleged that Farooq Sattar and his loyalists were playing into establishment's hands, further adding that those who are deceiving Urdu speaking community are afraid of public sentiments.
