Sabri killers confess involvement in 13 other incidents

KARACHI: The suspects arrested in connection with the murder of renowned Qawwal Amjad Sabri and the martyrdom of Pak Army soldiers in Karachi have confessed of being involved in 13 other criminal incidents, claim Counter-Terrorism Department on Monday.

According to CTD, the suspects —Ishaq aka Bobby and Asim aka Capri — confessed to killing Sabri near Karachi’s Liaquatabad while they also martyred four Pak army soldiers in two separate incidents near Parking Plaza and Tibet Centre.

In June, Amjad Sabri was gunned down by a motorcyclist near his Liaqatabad residence. He was on his way to a television studio to attend a Ramazan transmission when the incident took place.

The criminals were arrested by CTD in-charge Raja Umer Khitab and are involved in nine high-profile cases. Among the high-profile cases the two are accused in, include the October 30 attack on a Majlis in Nazimabad, attack on two Army personnel in Saddar parking plaza

Other cases the accused are involved in are 21 May 2016 attack on police constables in Aisha Manzil, 20 April 2016 attack in which seven policemen were martyred, 1 December 2015 attack in which two traffic policemen were killed, 20 November 2015 attack on Rangers in which four personnel were killed and 29 August 2015 attack in which Amir Haider Advocate Supreme Court was killed.

Asim alias Capri was arrested in 2013

Asim alias Capriwas also arrested in July 2013.

Chaudhry Aslam said he had arrested Asim alias Capri in the murder case of MPA Sajid Qureshi.

According to police, in 2015 Asim was released on bail and started criminal activities.
