Pilot refused to operate an ATR-42 aircraft which was to fly from the Jinnah International Airport to Mohenjodahro

KARACHI: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) pilot refused to operate an ATR-42 aircraft which was to fly from the Jinnah International Airport to Mohenjodahro,an archeological site in Sindh, citing a fault in one of the engines, a day after an air crash involving the same aircraft killed all 47 people on board.

TheTV channel did not name thepilot. According to aviation rules pilots cannotbe forced to operate faulty aircraft.

A PIAplane crashed Wednesday on a domestic flight from Chitral to Islamabad, killing all 47 people on board. Famous Pakistani singer-turned-religious preacher Junaid Jamshed, his wife Nahya, and Deputy Commissioner Osama Ahmed Waraich were also among the passengers on the ill-fated plane.
