Naat, praising the Prophet (PBUH) through poetry, is a practice rooted in South Asia.

The tradition of Naat-Khawani began during the time of the Prophet (PBUH).

Hassan Bin Sabit (RA) is known as the first Naat Khawan of that time.

Arabic naat Qaseeda Burda Sharif written by eminent Egyptian Sufi Al-Busiri, is perhaps the most recognized naat in the Muslim world.

Famous Persian poets who wrote Naat include Maulana Jami.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th of Rabi ul Awwal) is being observed with religious fervour across the country today (Monday).
