Irresponsible Indian statements, a threat to regional peace: Aslam

ISLAMABAD: Irresponsible statements coming from Indian leadership is a threat to regional peace, said Tasnim Aslam on Tuesday.

The Additional Secretary on Foreign Affairs made the statement while addressing a seminar in Islamabad.

She added that India is developing atomic submarines and is also resorting to unprovoked firing on the line of control (LoC) and along the working boundary.

Aslam made it clear, that under these circumstances, Pakistan has no option but to keep itself ready for defense and was maintaining a minimum deterrence.

Ready to work for regional peace

The additional secretary added that Pakistan was ready to work for regional peace and stability and was prepared to hold negotiations with India to resolve outstanding disputes.

She added that Pakistan's participation in the Heart of Asia Conference was in itself a manifestation of Pakistan's seriousness towards Afghan peace and stability.

Aslam said that Pakistan's decision to participate had also foiled Indian plans to hijack the Heart of Asia process.
