Kashmiri media says youth were martyred during joint operation

Five Kashmiris were martyredin occupied Kashmir by Indian troops in Kulgam district early Sunday morning.

While speaking to Kashmir Media Service, DIG Vijay Kumar confirmed the martyrdomof four youth during the operation launched jointly by the Indian army and the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force in Frisal.

Two of the four martyred youth have been identified as Zubair Ahmas Butt of Nowpora and Ashfaq Ahmad of Shopian.

According to Kumar, bodies of the youth were recovered from the debris of a house where the youth were staying.

“The operation in Kulgam is still underway,” said an official of the Indian army.

"The killings took place during the joint operation," confirmed an official of the Kulgam police.

However, according to the Indian media, it was an encounter in Nowpora area of Frisal in Kulgam district which claimed the lives of two Indian soldiers.
