Kings register first win in rain-hit PSL clash against United

Chasing the target, Kings were at 69-4 at the end of nine overs thanks mainly to opener Bahar Azam

SHARJAH: Star-studded PSL team Karachi Kings finally tasted a win in the second edition of Pakistan Super League after three consecutive defeats with 8 runs win over Islamabad United on Friday here.

Karachi were 75/4 in 9.4 overs, chasing a target of 95 in 13 over, when rain forced umpires to call off the match. Karachi were 8 runs ahead on DL and subsequently declared the winner of the match.

Earlier, Islamabad United scored 90/8 in 13 overs after a delayed start and a stoppage in 8th over that curtailed the innings for defending champions.

Shane Watson scored 26 off 14 deliveries with the help of two sixes and two fours while Dwayne Smith smashed three sixes for his 29 off 22 deliveries.

Imad Wasim and Usama Mir got two wickets apiece for Karachi Kings.

Karachi's chase was single-handedly led by young Babar Azam after Chris Gayle, Sangakkara, Shoaib Malik and Ravi Bopara failed to score in double figures.

Babar scored 47 off 30 deliveries with the help of two sixes and five boundaries and was awarded man of the match.
