LAHORE: Some cricket fans were left shocked and dismayed when they found out the online tickets they had booked for the Pakistan Super League final were cancelled without any apparent reason.
One such unlucky fan, named Mohammad Shakib, told Geo News that he booked his ticket online and received confirmation on the website that his ticket had been booked successfully.
“Sometime later, I received an email that my ticket has been cancelled. No reason was given,” Shakib lamented.
A disgruntled Shakib added that he had even booked an airline ticket for Lahore to watch the final.
“Now I will have to cancel the airline ticket and suffer even more financial loss,” he said.
Ticket sales for the PSL final have been extraordinary and within two days tickets ranging from Rs 500 – Rs 8,000 have been sold out.
Bank of Punjab officials told Geo News they are not selling tickets anymore, adding that no branch of the bank had received any tickets on Thursday.
Long queues of fans wanting tickets to the PSL final were witnessed outside banks in the provincial capital of Punjab for a second consecutive day. Fans said they had been waiting in line as early as 7:00 AM, some came and even ate their breakfast outside.
The PCB has said it will reimburse the money to those fans whose online tickets were booked but cancelled later. According to the PCB, the issue could have been caused by too much traffic on the website as thousands tried to book their tickets online.
Another issue, according to the board, could have been that some people's credit card limits were crossed and the transaction could not be made.
