Prepare to get your geek on with IBA's ProBattle’17!

Students can participate in a range of competitions including Robowars, logo and poster design, and mobile app development

KARACHI. If you consider yourself a tech junkie or just want to show off your coding skills then gear up for Institute of Business Administration, Karachi's (IBA) ProBattle’17.

The competition, started today (3rd March) and will continue until 5th March. It seeks to offer technology geeks the chance to prove their talent and meet people with similar interests.

This year, the organising team, comprising students of IBA's Computer Science Society, hopes to reach out to as many as 1,800 people.To expand their scope, the organisers have divided the competitions into different categories.

The IT contest includes web development, database design, mobile app development, data analytics, network design, and game jam (a new addition this year).

If you were obsessed with Robot Wars in your childhood, then ProBattle'17 will let you live that dream through two battles – Mindstorm and Real Steel – intended to provide the thrill of a game show. The former will feature a fight between two autonomous LEGO MINDSTORM robots, while the latter will let robots engage in combative sport.

Other competitions include a segment where participants can pitch their business ideas, design competitions focusing on logo, poster, and photography, games like FIFA, DOTA 2, and Mortal Kombat X, reasoning tests such as logic hunt and pseudocode, as well as a software exhibition.

ProBattle'17 highlights will be featured on all social media platforms such as Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

The event, initiated in 2013, was attended by 800 participants from 20 institutes across the country. This year, the organisers seek to reach more people.

In addition, the prize money offered to the winners is Rs. 550,000 this year as a more lucrative incentive.
