Shahid Afridi ruled out of PSL final due to injury

DUBAI: Flamboyant all-rounder Shahid Afridi has confirmed that he will be unable to play the final of Pakistan Super League against Quetta Gladiators scheduled on March 5 due to a hand injury.

In a video message, the former Pakistani skipper informed that doctors have advised him to take 10 days rest.

“Pakistan Super League was a big challenge for me after the T20 Worldcup as I think I was not able to give performances expected by my fans,” he said. "I really wanted to play PSL final in Lahore. But there are certain things which are not in my power.”

Afridi congratulated his and Peshawar Zalmi fans for qualifying for the PSL final.

The former Pakistan captaininjured his right hand on Friday while attempting to catch a drive from Kieron Pollard off Hassan Ali. According to sources, Afridi was immediately rushed for first aid and received 12 stitches to his right hand.

Photos from social media showed Afridi with a heavily bandaged right-hand after receiving first aid treatment.
