The pacer terms the title win “a huge honour and achievement”

LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi’s fast bowler Wahab Riaz has dedicated his team’s dream win in the Pakistan Super League 2017 final to his late father.

In an exclusive interview with Geo News, Wahab, who ended the tournament with the highest wicket tally for his team and the second-highest during this year’s edition (15), said his late father had wished to stay with him and see the PSL through.

“I dedicate this title victory and my success to my dad. I am missing him a lot,” an emotional Wahab said after Zalmi defeated Quetta Gladiators by 58 runs in the final at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Sunday to claim the PSL 2017 trophy.

The pacer termed the title win “a huge honour and achievement” for him and the team.

“I was determined to win. I had only one thought throughout the tournament: I had to succeed,” Wahab added.

The fast bowler had also dedicated Peshawar Zalmi’s win in the third playoff against Karachi Kings to his late father, who passed away last month – a few days before the start of the Pakistan Super League 2017.

“The one I am missing is my father,” Wahab had said post-match in an interview with commentator Bazid Khan, adding that his father had wished to see him playing the final in Lahore.
