Lahore Anarkali Bazaar fire extinguished after 9 hours

LAHORE: A fire that broke out in Lahore's Anarkali bazaar was extinguished nine hours after 25 fire trucks took part in extinguishing it.

At least two people were injured and more than a dozenshops were burned down early Saturday morning, as a blaze swept through the third floor of a building in Lahore`s Anarkali bazaar.

According to rescue sources, the injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital immediately, further adding thatthe fire occurred in a plaza of Guddi Bazar at Ganpat road, later it spread out tosurrounding warehouses and seven nearby buildings.

As many as 10 fire brigade vans of rescue 1122 and local district administration are being used to douse fire, however even after five hours the personnel has not been able to extinguish it. The local administration has suspended power supply in the area to avoid any unforeseen incident.

Rescue workers claim that the observation on the ground suggests that the fire broke out because of a short circuit.

Speaking to Geo News, the owners of Plaza have alleged that they have lost goods worth million of rupees as the fire brigade and rescue personnel did not reach the site of the incident immediately.
