Three killed in separate incidents of violence in Karachi

Police also arrest seven street criminals from Gulshan Iqbal and Memon Goth areas, and seize snatched valuables from them

KARACHI: At least three people were killed in two separate incidents of violence in Karachi, police said late Thursday.

The first incident occurred in Gulzar e Hijri area, when unknown muggers attempted to rob two men in a car, police said. Upon resistance, the suspects opened fire on them.

Both men were critically wounded and shifted to a hospital, but they succumbed to their injuries. Police said they were investigating the matter.

Another man was killed in a firing incident in Ghazi Goth area, according to police.

Meanwhile, the law enforcers rounded up four street criminals in Gulshan Iqbal area. Officials seized arms, cash and snatched mobile phones from the suspects.

Police said a few of their accomplices managed to flee and a manhunt was underway for them.

In another episode, police and suspects came face to face in Memon Goth area, leading to an exchange of fire between the two sides.

The cops, however, managed to arrest three suspects after a while. One of the suspects was wounded due to the gunfire.

Officials recovered arms, mobile phones, cash and a motorcycle from the arrested suspects.
