Govt plans to privatise management of three major airports

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday temporarily stayed the planned privatisation of the Allama Iqbal International Airport and adjourned the hearing of the case.

LHC Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, who is hearing a petition filed by Dr Mubashir Hasan against the privatisation of management control of the airport, ordered the Civil Aviation Authority and federal government to file detailed replies on the issue in four weeks.

The petitioner has stated that the federal government is selling off management control of three major airports of the country — Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi — for much less than what it is worth.
